Chris Wood at University of Northampton

April 29, 2009

English traditional music is enjoying a revival at the moment with young singers and musicians such as Eliza Carthy and Jim Moray. One of the most encouraging aspects this resurgence of interest in folk is the determination to avoid purist and exclusivist interpretations of that tradition. There is also an interest in using song as a way to explore an English dissenting tradition of which Chris Wood is a key of exponent. Chris who won Singer of the Year and Best Album at this year’s BBC Radio 2’s Folk Awards, will be appearing in concert at The University of Northampton this Friday (May 1, 2009) at 8pm in the Isham Studio, Avenue Campus. Admission is £5.00. Tickets available on the night only (no pre-booking or discounts).

I wish I was going. If like me you can’t get along, this is what you’re missing.
